One day, a terrifying monster known as Kabane appears that can only be killed by destroying its heart, which is surrounded by a layer of iron. Forced into retreat, humans settle on an island called Hinomoto and shelter themselves from the threat. The main way to transport goods here is with the help of locomotives.

Ikomo is a boy who lives in Aragane station and one day helps transports a weapon called Tsuranukizutsu that can defeat the Kabane. However, the station is later attacked by Kabane.
